YSWS Philosophy and Information
Hack Club has a model called You Ship We Ship, often shortened as YSWS. Through this, teenage Hack Clubbers around the world ship projects for rewards funded by Hack Club! This is all financed at an average lower cost than public school in the USA.
What Does My YSWS Need?
You first need an idea, something that you believe could benefit your club members. We are primarily looking for beginner-friendly projects that teach new skills or help expand on an existing skillset that your members may possess. The average workshop should take between one and three hours to complete.
To justify the funding, the reward given out must be at a maximum of $5/hour. (USD) This helps keep Hack Club sustainable and allows us to fund more projects in the future.
You will specifically be creating a workshop focused on clubs. What does this entail? Keeping it relatively beginner-friendly and allowing it to be realistically completed by clubs.
What will I be aiming for?
To get people to ship projects they are proud of! If you can get a few people to learn something new and ship it, that is a success!
How do I Start?
Once you have an idea, you can apply through the application form. It’s okay if you don’t have a solidified idea for the reward yet, this can be refined or altered during the application process.
If given the go-ahead, you will then create a guide for your workshop. A mentor will join your journey in this stage to help you make this a reality. This is often a slide deck that goes through the steps of the workshop. For more detailed information on creating a guide, please refer to the guide section. Once complete, your guide will be reviewed by a mentor, and you will receive feedback. Upon approval, you will be able to lead the workshop at your club with funding from Hack Club!
